Singer, actress, model, endorsement representative and humanitarian—the late GREAT AALIYAH did it all!  In fact, Aaliyah did more in her lifetime than most of us dream!  It’s still hard for many of us to accept that she’s passed on.  Described by many as “angel on earth”…and so with the anniversary of her passing approaching next month—the Hip-Hop world is already reminiscing!

“We were rehearsing for Why Do Fools Fall in Love soundtrack.  We were new comers and she was a big star—she had hits on the radio, but she was sitting on the floor, rewinding our tape for us.  It was so sweet of her to do…Every time I saw Aaliyah she was happy and she had this presence that few people have…I feel very blessed to have met her.  She was definitely an angel and I know God does not let too many of his angels go.” –Beyonce’

When Aaliyah dropped Age Ain’t Nothin’ but a Number—it was so different from the gritty street sound of R&B artists like Jodeci and Xscape but she wasn’t quite as packaged as let’s say, R&B artists Brandy and Boyz 2 Men… As a trendsetter in the game, her sound was unprecedented—was it street? Was it R&B?  No. neither.  It was evident that Aaliyah different, she was a Hip-Hop artist with an R&B soul!

“To leave this earth like that…I felt like my heart had been ripped out [of my chest].  We were going our separate ways as artists but I still loved her.  She was the epitome of a superstar.  Her music will never rest.”-Genuwine

Aaliyah—embodied class, professionalism and star appeal…wrapped into one!  She still is and will always be an inspiration to us all!

Rest Peacefully Baby Girl! WE MISS YOU!
