Although DMX has spent the last few years making more headlines for his run-ins with the law and prison stints than for his music, hip-hop fans have yet to give up hope that the former Def Jam recording artist will get his life back on track and get back to cranking out hit music. Recently, I caught up with X’s estranged wife, Tashera Simmons, and she spoke on X’s release date (he’s currently serving a bid for probation violation), how he’s doing behind bars, and his music. Check out the highlights:

ON X’S RELEASE DATE:

“His release date is July 1, and so if everybody can pray for him and hope that when he gets out, that he goes down the right path, but he’s doing good.”

ON HOW X IS SPENDING HIS TIME BEHIND BARS:

“He’s definitely reevaluating and reflecting, and hopefully, he’ll be able to come out and make a 360. So we’re all praying for that.”

ON X’S MUSIC:

“He did a whole new album, so hopefully, when he gets out, he’ll get picked up, which most likely, he probably will.”

Let’s all pray for X…check out the rest of Tashera’s comments in the video below (she comes in at the 3:40 mark):
