J-Cole started his tour-stint opening up for label mates Jay-Z and Rihanna.  Next, it wasn’t long before J-Cole set off on his own 26 city promotional tour—then while still on that very tour, getting the news that he would soon be joining Tinie Tempah out in Europe, once Cole finished promoting his debut album in ‘the States.’

It wasn’t too long before J-Cole was back in ‘the States’—performing on ‘the Campus Conscience Tour’ experiencing his fans’ reactions to another release: SIDELINE Story— which hit stores less than three months after his debut release.

Now fast-forward just a bit—most recently, J-Cole has been added to yet another bill—Drake’s ‘Club Paradise Tour’ also featuring artists: Waka-Flocka Flame, Meek-Mill, 2 Chainz, French Montana and L.E.P. Bogus Boyz.  The 27 city tour kicked off earlier this month (May 7^th) in California and wraps on June 17^th out in Boston.

“It’s everyone on one bill, that everyone wants to see—and we’re outside, that’s Club Paradise!” said Drake.

A humble artist and smart businessman, J-Cole appreciates being able to perform his ‘In the Morning’ collaboration live every night alongside Drake, giving fans exactly what they want.

“It was my first time in Paris and I got a text from Drake.  And it was him just telling me he heard ‘In the Morning’ for the first time (one of J-Cole’s older songs)… He said, ‘it was incredible.’ And [since] I’ve always wanted to bring that song back—especially since the original was recorded in my old crib—in my small room…”

Long story short?  Drake told J-Cole that if he remade the ‘In the Morning’ track—to save him 16 bars— obviously that’s just what J-Cole did and his fans, well… Can’t Get Enough.

Since dropping his fourth studio album: RADIO; Touring with Hard Rock band, Van Halen; and having collaborated with many of the game’s musical heavy-hitters—Ky-Mani Marley has solidified his artistry as: “Ky-Mani Music.”  That is to say, that his music cannot be classified under any one genre, instead—providing music for people ‘from all walks of life.’

Ky-Mani Marley takes listeners on a transcendent musical journey with songs: ‘I PRAY,’ ‘DEAR DAD,’ ‘GHETTO SOLDIER’ and ‘I GOT YOU.’

Reinforcing this eclectic element—will be Ky-Mani’s heavily anticipated fifth studio album entitled: EVOLUTION of a REVELATION.  The two part album is naturally compiled of World Music, Blues, Soft Rock and Hip-Hop.  In general, Hip-Hop influence is heard in much of Marley’s music—as he has collaborated with Hip-Hop artists’ Pras (of the Fugees), Young Buck, Mya and Nas just to name a few.

So what is it exactly, that puts Ky-Mani Marley in his own, “Musical-Marley” lane?  Well for starters, maybe it can be attributed to the fact, that Ky-Mani did not grow-up performing music like many of his brothers and sisters.  Music sort of ‘chose him.’  Secondly, add to the fact that, although many people may assume, again because of his last name, that his early life was ‘a bed of roses’—well, the early years was just the thorn part—he had to indeed, ‘blossom to the roses.’  In other words, Ky-Mani grew up poor— poor of abundant material possessions that is– but as he noted, he was always rich with love.

“The one thing I had a lot of growing up was love.  No matter the condition…so I was happy.”

Perhaps this is why, when Ky-Mani Marley is not in the studio, spends his time restoring his roots by giving back—that is, providing opportunities for his Love Over All Foundation also referred to as LOAF.  The aim of the foundation is to inspire and uplift children from third world countries such as Jamaica.

Well—besides the music—another word—or words that one tends to think of, when they hear the last name: “Marley” is Love, more specifically…#ONE.LOVE#

Well, recently joining that list of heavy-hitters’ is SHOTTAS, the film starring:  Ky-Mani Marley (Biggs), Spragga Benz (Wayne), Paul Cambell (Mad-Max) & WyClef Jean (Richie Effs).  It’s the tale of a gangster [Biggs] who lives his life as both hero and villain—desperately fighting for justice in an unjust society—by any means necessary.    Produced by Cess Silvera, the film takes place in the heart of Kingston, Jamaica—allowing a “window” not just to a gangster’s life; but of the “makings” of a gangster:  violent oppression.

SHOTTAS left fans with a “cliff-hanger” of an ending… Was Mad-Max alive?  Did Biggs get away?  Where did he go?  Will government officials go looking for him?  Will Wayne’s father ever step on the scene?  And what ever happened to “Richie Eff” (Wyclef Jean) after he shot ”Dangles” (Jabba Mitchell)?

Well fans can rest assure that many of their questions will be answered in the upcoming TV series!

Half of the Hip-Hop community is fighting to maintain its funky-freshness, while the other half of the game is running around throwing up illuminati signs…What part of the game is that?  Who knows…but one thing is certain!  The game has changed!!  Instead of spittin’ for respect and braggin’ rights, now rappers can just ‘say’ they are the best and no one questions it.

Whaaaat?  What happened to battling to prove  yourself?  Hip-Hop use to be about the crew– the squad– having ‘a bunch’ of ‘ill lyricists’ with ‘ill rhymes’ that were on point!  And everybody had to be ‘syck-wit-it’ or they’d be kicked out of the crew!  Straight-up!  DJ’s, Rappers & Breakers all had to battle to gain respect!

Well, with all of these changes in HIP-POP…there are only a few REAL MCs left; who actually do it from the HEART.  The ONEs who keep TRUE to the tradition of the culture…that is, they don’t ”sell out.”

One such artist, who is definitely a different breed, is Nas.  Another?  J-Cole.  These artists  do not compromise their integrity (almost a loss tradition today) and make music FOR the PEOPLE not TO the PEOPLE.

This is why so much of Hip-Hop’s fan base is reverting back to the ol’ skool!
